In January 2016 Lawtech Group started its first job for Whitefriars Housing. Having been awarded through an OJEU procurements process the works looked to improve the thermal comfort and aesthetics of three residential blocks of flats. The blocks totalled 39 homes.
The blocks had an existing render coat. Lawtech worked with Wetherby and the client to design an insulated external wall insulation system that improved the uValue performance to 0.3 W/m2K. The facade was finished with silicone renders to the majority of the block and dash stone finish to the ground floor.
Further works included the upgrading of communal doors. Secure by Design requirements were met by the specification installed powder coated Warrior Doors.
Rainwater goods where changed as part of the external programme as well as ground level drainage improvements. The team excavated trenches around the blocks, installing a waste water system and backfilling the trenches with gravel.
The properties remained in occupancy during the works and the site team co-ordinated all surveys through our resident liaison function. Customer satisfaction KPIs came back with 98% very satisfied, a testament to the care attention and efficiency that this scheme was delivered with.
Due to the nature of the work, our customer care team issued energy efficiency guides post install of external wall insulation. With the physical changes to the property it is important to educate on the cultural changes residents can make to maximise the saving potential whilst maintaining a comfortable environment.
