Taking advantage of ECO funding, Lambeth Living sought to substantially alleviate fuel poverty for its residents, particularly occupants of Hard To Treat housing stock.
Acting as Principal Contractor on this borough-wide scheme, Lawtech co-ordinated the initial survey of almost 30,000 properties to assess their suitability for energy efficiency measures. We then designed the project Scope for eligible properties and sourced full ECO funding, thereby presenting the client with a cost free solution.
Lawtech managed and delivered 100% of the project using our own directly-employed resources, installing energy efficiency measures to some 3,700+ properties across Lambeth (many with multiple measures):
- Solid Wall Insulation – 650
- Flat Roof Insulation – 20
- Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI) applied to BBA and CIGA standards, including Hard To Treat stock – 3,120
The works commenced with the installation of measures to the three tower blocks at Clarence Road, with subsequent phases at St Matthew’s Estate and Cedars Road.
Our dedicated Lambeth Project Management team worked collaboratively with the Client and liaised directly with Planning to develop a design for External Wall Insulation (EWI) that was acceptable to Planning, commercially attractive to the Client, deliverable by Lawtech and warrantable by the suppliers.
Lawtech completed Building Control Self-Certification for EWI through the BBA Competent Persons Scheme and for CWI through our BBA 4258 Accreditation.
Lambeth Living’s Project Manager worked closely with our site management team, meeting them weekly to review progress and agree prompt solutions to any issues arising as necessary to keep the Programme on course. Monthly reviews of our performance against Key Performance Indicators were held between the Client, Lawtech and the Funder, monitoring Resident Satisfaction, Quality Control, Programme Delivery, Carbon Savings and Overall Client Satisfaction. Lawtech exceeded target in all categories.
Lawtech achieved a Resident Satisfaction score of 94% at St. Matthew’s Estate. We profiled the community and established that the first language of a large proportion of the residents is Sylheti. Rather than bringing in external interpreters, Lawtech employed local Sylheti-speakers as Resident Liaison Officers, providing them with NVQ Level 2 in Customer Care. All parties benefited from their knowledge of the local area and people.
