Client:  British Gas on behalf of Salix Homes

Lawtech was approached by our Framework client, British Gas, to develop a design and costing model for the upgrade of housing stock in Salford in order to meet current thermal performance Building Regulations.

The CESP-funded project aimed to improve the thermal performance of 95 properties owned by Salix Homes.  The houses were constructed with cavity wall at ground level and solid wall timber frame to the first floor finished with vertically-hung tiles.

The Scope of Works required Lawtech to:

  • strip the existing tile cladding
  • install cement particle board
  • adapt roofing
  • install 90mm EcoRock mineral wool External Wall Insulation finished with a 1.5mm grain silicone render

Lawtech worked with Salix Homes’ Framework Contractor, HT Forrest to finalise designs and calculations to the client’s satisfaction.  We carried out comprehensive Site Surveys and produced bespoke technical drawings in-house.

All works were conducted in accordance with system-specific methodologies and Lawtech’s BS EN ISO 9001-accredited Quality Management System.  Hold Points were implemented at key stages for the work to be halted for compliance inspections before progressing.  

We completed the contract on time and within budget, handing over every unit snag-free at first presentation; a notable success for our Drive for Zero Defects.
