Edgar Road Estate, Hounslow
Contract Type: Residential Refurbishment
Client: Richmond Housing Partnership
Funded by Effective Energy, Lawtech’s Scope of Works as Principal Contractor at Edgar Road Estate encompassed a range of energy efficiency measures to 372 properties over two high-rise and nine low-rise blocks.
The tower blocks, Jamieson House and Slade House, were approached first. A full scaffold system was assembled, enabling the application of 14,000m2 of Rockwool Rockshield External Wall Insulation in a white silicone render, finished with blue detailing to replicate the original colourway.
The blocks also received:
- replacement UPVC windows (like-for-like, but ‘A’ rated)
- ‘A’ rated boilers with flue extensions
- concrete repairs
- roof repairs
- new fire doors
The nine 5-storey blocks at Edgar Road and Simpson Road each received full, independent tied scaffold. Weber EPS EWI was applied in a red and cream finish, again to match the blocks’ original appearance. Kingspan K17 IWI was also installed to internal stairwells. Other measures included replacement windows and ‘A’ rated boilers.
The project at Hounslow Heath was one of the last completed by Lawtech under the CESP obligation, achieving a U-Value of 0.27W/(m2K). The scheme rejuvenated Edgar Road Estate, with residents benefiting from both the thermal improvements and the aesthetic upgrade.
